Non-stimulant medications like atomoxetine (ATX) have shown similar, albeit somewhat
lower, efficacy and tolerability to stimulants, such as methylphenidate (MPH), in
patients with ADHD. However, their mechanisms of action are not yet well understood.
Critically, both drugs have shown similar beneficial effects on attention symptoms
in patients with ADHD. Despite this, the neurobiological underpinnings of their effect
on attention functions has not been studied previously.
