Cerebellar-Cortical Disconnectivity Causes Cognitive Dysfunction in Psychotic Disorders

      Psychotic disorders are linked to cognitive deficits. Foremost among these is impaired information processing speed. Neuroimaging in healthy participants links processing speed to fronto-parietal control network (FPCN) activity. Notably, this finding implicates both the cortical and cerebellar nodes of the FPCN. Cerebellar-cortical hypoconnectivity is a well replicated neuroimaging phenotype in psychotic disorders. We hypothesized that cerebellar-cortical hypoconnectivity is a direct cause of impaired information processing speed. We tested this hypothesis in a two-part experiment.
