Pathological fear generalization is a central feature of trauma- and anxiety- related
disorders. The sub-thalamic zona incerta (ZI), typically considered a sensorimotor
relay, has recently gained attention for its role in modulating emotional states.
We previously identified that activation of the GABAergic cells in the mouse ZI, can
prevent fear generalization. Here, we examined whether specific inhibitory projections
from the ZI could mediate changes in fear generalization.
